The Baytown Police Department is warning citizens about a hoax that involves a caller claiming to be a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) officer.
The caller, sometimes identifying himself at Special Agent John Gilmore threatens contacts with jail, court or some other form of enforcement action against them if they do not comply with giving out certain personal information.
Baytown PD has confirmed that this caller is not a DEA agent, and would like to remind residents that no law enforcement agency will ever call to solicit personal information from you or threaten arrest over the phone. Those who receive phone calls of this nature should, if possible, get the number that the call is being made from and what agency the caller claims to be associated with and then contact that agency or your local police immediately.
